Adam Friedrich Zürnér (also spelled Zurner) was a German cartographer and mathematician who lived from 1679 to 1742. He is well-known for his contributions to cartography during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. In 1700, he published a significant work titled "Planisphaerium Terrestre cum utroque Coelesti Hemisphaerio, sive Diversa Orbis Terraquei."

The title "Planisphaerium Terrestre cum utroque Coelesti Hemisphaerio, sive Diversa Orbis Terraquei" translates to "Terrestrial Planisphere with both Celestial Hemispheres or Various World Maps." This publication was a collection of maps representing various regions of the Earth, as well as celestial maps of the northern and southern hemispheres.

During this era, cartography was a developing field, and Zürnér's work was considered quite advanced for its time. The maps in his "Planisphaerium Terrestre" showcased not only geographical information but also astronomical knowledge of the celestial bodies.

Zürnér's maps were characterized by their artistic beauty and precision in detailing geographical features, making them valuable pieces for both navigation and decorative purposes. Zürner's expertise in mathematics and geography enabled him to create accurate and detailed maps and globes. He was particularly skilled in engraving and produced high-quality maps and celestial globes that were highly sought after during his lifetime.

One of his most notable works was the "Atlas Novus Coelestis," a celestial atlas that contained star charts and astronomical information. It was published in 1708 and demonstrated his proficiency in celestial cartography.
