John Bartholomew's 1922 map of Southwestern Asia is a meticulously detailed and enlightening cartographic representation of the region, encompassing present-day Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and segments of Saudi Arabia and Yemen. This map adheres to precise scaling and orients itself with the north situated at the top.

It skillfully portrays the area's geographical features, encompassing mountains, rivers, lakes, and deserts, while also delineating the region's geopolitical borders and major urban centers. The map is thoughtfully annotated in English and incorporates a legend that elucidates the various symbols employed throughout.

Bartholomew's Southwestern Asia map serves as a valuable resource for historians, geographers, and anyone with an interest in this region. It offers a comprehensive overview of the area's physical and political landscape.

The map's significance is multifold. Firstly, it provides an intricate and informative portrayal of the region during a period of profound transformation and upheaval. Crafted shortly after World War I and the disintegration of the Ottoman Empire, it reflects the freshly established political boundaries and the escalating importance of resources like oil.

Secondly, Bartholomew's map is an artistic masterpiece in its own right. Its exquisite design and coloring, coupled with ornamental elements such as a compass rose and a caravan vignette, underscore the artistry and skill of John Bartholomew, an esteemed cartographer of his era.
