"Carte reduite de l'Ocean Oriental ou Mer des Indes" by Jacques-Nicolas Bellin, created in 1757, is a significant historical cartographic work that provides a comprehensive view of the Eastern Ocean or Indian Sea during the 18th century. This map, created during the Age of Exploration, reflects the geographical knowledge and maritime routes of the time.
The map displays the Indian Ocean region, showing the coastlines of various countries bordering the ocean, including parts of Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and the islands of the Indian Ocean. It also feature important ports, geographical features, trade routes, and navigational information relevant to sailors and explorers of the 18th century.
Jacques-Nicolas Bellin (1703–1772) was a prominent French cartographer and hydrographer who made significant contributions to the field of geography during the 18th century. He is renowned for his meticulous mapmaking and his work as the chief cartographer for the French Navy, a position he held for more than five decades. Bellin's maps were highly regarded for their accuracy, attention to detail, and aesthetic appeal.
Bellin's illustrious career began as a draftsman and engraver at the esteemed Dépôt des cartes et plans de la Marine (Depot of Maps and Plans of the Navy) in France. His dedication to accuracy and his expertise in maritime cartography led to his appointment as the official hydrographer to King Louis XV. This prestigious position allowed Bellin to produce a vast array of maps, atlases, and navigational charts that were indispensable tools for sailors, explorers, and navigators of his time.
One of Bellin's notable contributions was his emphasis on accurate coastlines, ports, and islands. His maps were based on the latest available geographical information, often incorporating data from recent voyages and explorations. These detailed and well-crafted maps became highly regarded for their reliability, making them essential for safe sea travel and exploration.

- The fine art photo paper it's satinated (semi-glossy), 140 gr/sqm.

Clients from US and Canada cannot track the parcels as the tracking numbers are not rolled in USPS and Canada Post systems.

Both type of materials, paper and canvas prints come rolled and will be need to be taken to your local framers.
The image it's printed with a border of 0.6 " (1.5 cm), for framing purposes only.
If you have already a frame, be sure you send us the exact size of the print that will fit inside the frame. We're printing on vectorial plotters so the size could slightly be more or less with 0.4" (1 cm).
If you plan to have the canvas print stretched on wooden frame, you'll need additional border, so please let us know after placing the order.
The images above was cropped from the image at the biggest size available (keeping the best quality and aspect /ratio), so, for good details please choose biggest dimensions that will suit your preferences / space.
