Hubert Jaillot was a renowned French cartographer and mapmaker who was active during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. He was born in France in 1632 and worked primarily in Paris. Jaillot was known for his detailed and decorative maps, which were highly regarded for their accuracy and beauty.

One of Jaillot's notable works is the "Mappe monde ou description du globe terrestre & aquatique," which translates to "World map or description of the terrestrial and aquatic globe." The map was published in Amsterdam in 1703.

Hubert Jaillot (1632-1712) was a prominent French cartographer and publisher who was active during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. He was born in Franche-Comté, France, and worked primarily in Paris. Jaillot is best known for his maps and atlases, which were highly regarded for their accuracy, detail, and artistic beauty.

Jaillot began his career as an engraver, working for Nicolas Sanson, one of the leading mapmakers of the time. He later became the official geographer to the French king Louis XIV, a prestigious position that further enhanced his reputation.

In 1674, Jaillot acquired the copperplates of the Sanson family's map collection and expanded upon their work. He re-engraved and updated the maps, adding new information and making improvements in accuracy and aesthetics. Jaillot's maps often featured elaborate cartouches, decorative borders, and detailed illustrations, which made them visually appealing and sought after by collectors.

One of Jaillot's notable works is the "Atlas Nouveau," which was published in several editions from the late 17th century to the early 18th century. The atlas consisted of a comprehensive collection of maps, including regional maps of France, Europe, and the world. His maps were based on the latest geographic knowledge available at the time, and he incorporated updates from explorations and discoveries made by contemporary explorers.

Jaillot's maps were influential in their time and played a significant role in the development of cartography. They were widely distributed and highly regarded for their accuracy and detail. Even after his death in 1712, his maps continued to be reprinted and reproduced by various publishers, testifying to their enduring popularity.

  • The canvas it's 99 % cotton, 450 gr/sqm;
  • The matte photo paper it's acid-free (archival paper), 190 gr/sqm;
  • The fine art photo paper it's satinated (semi-glossy), 140 gr/sqm.

The delivery times are not guaranteed, sometimes it will take longer and these are beyond our control. Tracking number will be provided. Clients from US and Canada cannot track the parcels as the tracking numbers are not rolled in USPS and Canada Post systems.

* UPS standard: The orders will be sent with UPS expedited option. The delivery time it's between 5-11 days. Tracking number will be provided after dispatch.

* UPS express: : The orders will be sent with UPS express saver. The delivery time it's between 4-7 days. Tracking number will be provided after dispatch.

Framing tips

Both type of materials, paper and canvas prints come rolled and will be need to be taken to your local framers.

The image it's printed with a border of 0.6 " (1.5 cm), for framing purposes only.

If you have already a frame, be sure you send us the exact size of the print that will fit inside the frame. We're printing on vectorial plotters so the size could slightly be more or less with 0.4" (1 cm).

If you plan to have the canvas print stretched on wooden frame, you'll need additional border, so please let us know after placing the order.

The images above was cropped from the image at the biggest size available (keeping the best quality and aspect /ratio), so, for good details please choose biggest dimensions that will suit your preferences / space.
