Beautiful set of 3 wine maps of Burgundy Vineyards, La Cote Chalonnaise, Le Maconnais,La Côte De Nuits and La Côte De Beaune, France, 1942
Louis Larmat, a French cartographer, created the detailed map of the wine-growing region of Côte de Nuits in the Côte-d'Or department of France in 1942.
The map illustrates the Côte de Nuits appellation's borders, encompassing eight villages, including Chambolle-Musigny, Fixin, Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, and Vougeot. It indicates the villages' locations and the vineyards within the region, each labeled with its name and depicted in varying colors to signify the grape varieties cultivated.
Furthermore, the map provides insights into the diverse soils found in the area, visually represented by distinct colors, and offers information on the different types of wines produced in the Côte de Nuits, with the wines classified by type and appellation.
Similarly, Louis Larmat published another detailed map in 1942, this time of the wine-growing region of Côte de Beaune in the Côte-d'Or department of France.
The Côte de Beaune map outlines the Côte de Beaune appellation's boundaries, which encompass 24 villages, including Aloxe-Corton, Beaune, Bligny-lès-Beaune, Pommard, Volnay, Chambolle-Musigny, Corton-Charlemagne, Corton, Meursault, Monthelie, Pernand-Vergelesses, Saint-Aubin, Savigny-lès-Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet, Santenay, Ladoix-Serrigny, Chorey-lès-Beaune, Beaune Premier Cru, and Côte de Beaune Villages.
The map "La cote chalonnaise-le mâconnais," published in 1942, is a representation of the Chalonnaise and Mâconnais wine regions in France, which are known for their production of Burgundy wines. These maps were designed to provide information about the vineyards, wine appellations, and other viticultural details of the respective regions.
Louis Larmat's wine maps are highly regarded by wine enthusiasts, sommeliers, and those involved in the wine industry. They have been valuable tools for understanding the geography of wine production in France and have contributed to the appreciation of French wine culture.
