True to the style of the period, the map is adorned with elaborate decorative elements. These include a richly embellished title cartouche, often featuring allegorical figures, coats of arms, and other artistic motifs.
Vignettes of ships and sea monsters populate the Mediterranean Sea, adding an element of maritime charm and reflecting the era's artistic conventions.

The map captures the historical context of Provence during a period of relative stability and growth. The region’s rich cultural heritage, influenced by Roman, medieval, and Renaissance periods, is subtly reflected in the depiction of its towns and landmarks.
Provence's role as a significant cultural and economic center in France is emphasized through the detailed portrayal of its infrastructure and settlements.

Jansson’s map of Provence serves as a valuable historical document, providing insights into the geography, urban development, and political boundaries of the region in the 17th century. It is a critical resource for historians studying the period.
