"A Map of the East-Indies and the Adjacent Countries; with the Settlements, Factories, and Territories, explaining what Belongs to England, Spain, France, Holland, Denmark, Portugal" is a map created by the cartographer Herman Moll in the year 1720. This map was part of Moll's extensive work in cartography and geography during the early 18th century.

The map aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the East Indies and the surrounding regions, highlighting the colonial possessions and territories of various European powers at that time. These European countries were engaged in establishing trade networks, settlements, and colonies in the East Indies, a region that includes present-day Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent.

Herman Moll (c. 1654-1732) was a prolific and influential cartographer and engraver who lived during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. He was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, around 1654, but later moved to London, England, where he spent the majority of his career.

Moll's cartographic work encompassed a wide range of maps, atlases, and globes, earning him a reputation as one of the leading mapmakers of his time. He was involved in producing maps for various purposes, including navigation, exploration, trade, and geopolitical analysis. Moll's maps were known for their high level of detail, accuracy, and artistic design.

Moll's maps were widely used by explorers, merchants, and governments during the Age of Exploration and the colonial era. His work contributed to the dissemination of geographical knowledge and played a crucial role in shaping the understanding of the world during his time.

In addition to his cartographic endeavors, Moll was also involved in publishing and selling maps and atlases, making them accessible to a broader audience. He collaborated with other cartographers and geographers, further enhancing his reputation as a prominent figure in the field of cartography.
