Herman Moll (1654 - 1732) was a prominent cartographer, engraver, and publisher of maps and atlases during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. He was born in Germany, but he spent much of his life in England, where he became a British citizen in 1691. Moll was known for his skill in creating detailed and accurate maps, as well as his innovative and artistic map designs.

"A New and Correct Map of the World Laid Down According to the Newest Discoveries, and from the Most Exact Observations" is one of Moll's significant cartographic works. It was published in 1715 and was based on the latest geographical information available at that time. The map likely incorporated data from explorations and voyages of various European expeditions, including those conducted during the Age of Exploration.

During the 17th and 18th centuries, there were still many unexplored regions on the world map, and cartographers like Moll sought to update their maps with the most recent information as new discoveries were made. As such, the accuracy and completeness of these maps varied, and some areas might have been more accurately depicted than others.

Moll's map would have reflected the prevailing knowledge and understanding of the world's geography during the early 18th century, but it might not be entirely accurate by today's standards. Cartography has advanced significantly since then, thanks to more extensive explorations, improved surveying techniques, and satellite-based mapping systems.

In addition to his expertise in cartography, Moll was also a skilled engraver and used his artistic talents to create visually appealing maps. He included elaborate and decorative elements in his cartographic designs, making his maps not only informative but also aesthetically pleasing.
