Louis Larmat's "Atlas de la France Vinicole" was a comprehensive series of maps covering various wine and spirits regions in France, including Cognac and its eaux-de-vie, in the 1947 edition. The "carte generale" (general map) of Cognac within this atlas would likely have provided a detailed overview of the Cognac region, showcasing its vineyards, sub-regions, and possibly specific areas known for producing eaux-de-vie.

Larmat's meticulous cartography and focus on wine regions would have likely included valuable information about Cognac's terroir, grape varieties, and the geographical delineations of the region. The maps in this atlas would have been instrumental in providing oenophiles, producers, and researchers with an in-depth understanding of Cognac's viticultural landscape and its significance in producing eaux-de-vie.

Louis Larmat was a notable French oenologist, cartographer, and author known for his significant contributions to the understanding and documentation of French wine regions. His most renowned work, the "Atlas des Grands Vins de France," provided detailed maps, information, and insights into various wine-producing areas across France.

Larmat's expertise lay in meticulously mapping and categorizing the terroirs, vineyards, and classifications within regions such as Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Cognac, and others. His works were highly regarded for their accuracy and depth, offering valuable resources for wine enthusiasts, professionals, and researchers seeking comprehensive knowledge about the geographical nuances and characteristics influencing the production of French wines.

His dedication to cartography and oenology has left a lasting legacy, providing invaluable references that continue to be utilized by those passionate about French wines and their diverse terroirs.
