Richard Blome was an English cartographer, engraver, and publisher who lived from 1635 to 1705. He is known for his work in creating and publishing maps and atlases during the late 17th century. One of his notable maps is titled "A Mapp of y Kingdome of Tartary" or simply "Map of the Kingdom of Tartary," which was published in 1682.

Tartary, also known as Tartaria or Tataria, was a historical region in Central Asia that encompassed parts of present-day Mongolia, Russia, Kazakhstan, and China. During the 17th century, there was a great interest in mapping and exploring the Asian continent, and maps of Tartary were often produced to provide a visual representation of the region.

Blome's map of the Kingdom of Tartary from 1682 depicted the geographical features, cities, rivers, and other landmarks of the region as known at the time. However, it's important to note that cartography during this period was not always accurate, and maps often included speculative information and inaccuracies based on limited knowledge and available sources.

Richard Blome (1635-1705) was an English writer, herald, and cartographer who was active during the late 17th century. He is best known for his contributions in publishing and producing maps, atlases, and various works on heraldry and genealogy.

Blome's notable works include "Britannia" (1673), a topographical and historical description of England, Wales, and Scotland. It featured detailed county maps, genealogical information, and descriptions of notable places. Blome also published a map of London titled "Blome's New Mapp of London" in 1689, which provided a detailed representation of the city at the time.

In addition to his cartographic endeavors, Blome also worked on heraldic and genealogical publications. He published several works on the subjects, including "The Art of Heraldry" (1685), "The Gentleman's Recreation" (1686), and "The English Ensigns Armorial" (1688). These books explored the history, rules, and symbols of heraldry, as well as providing illustrations and descriptions of coats of arms.

Blome was an active member of the Royal Society and held the position of Lancaster Herald of Arms in Ordinary. He collaborated with other prominent figures of his time, such as the renowned cartographer John Ogilby.
